Description:
In
order to be effective patient advocates, health care professionals must be able
to identify a patient's comprehension of health-related information as well as
provide resources and education designed for the patient's level of
understanding. This session will discuss the importance of incorporating health
literacy concepts into patient interactions. Participants will learn how to
access resources and implement health literacy concepts and practices into
their patient encounters.

health literacy.
- Identify
individuals that are at risk for low health literacy.
- Explain
the health impact of low health literacy.
- Outline
effective communication strategies when working with low health literacy
individuals.
