Description:
This article presents a case study an 18-year-old African
American male with sickle cell anemia was seen in an outpatient clinic and
presented with a fever of 102.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Upon further evaluation,
the patient was tachycardic, 120 beats per minute (normal: 60-100 beats per
minute) and tachypneic, 40 breaths per minute (normal: 12-16 breaths per
minute). The patient complained of nonspecific achiness and fatigue. The
article outlines the case results.
