STEP 447: Three Rapid Screening Tests for Cryptococcus Neoformans in the Laboratory (CE: 1.0)


Description:

This article presents a case study of a 29-year-old male presenting with headaches, sensitivity to light, seizures, and a stiff neck. Upon admission, he was treated with Dilantin and Phenobarbital for the seizure, concurrently, with Amphotericin B and flucytosine every six hours for two weeks for cryptococcal meningitis. This article discusses the three rapid screening tests used to detect the pathogen.
