STEP 446: Case Thirty-Two: An Unusual Gram-Negative Bacillus Recovered from a Pediatric Patient with Chronic Otitis Media (CE: 1.0)


Description:

This article focuses on a three-year-old female with a history of obstructive and central sleep apnea, deletion at chromosome 16p11.2, developmental delay and dysmorphic features presented to clinic for persistent middle ear effusions and multiple bouts of otitis media. The patient had multiple sets of tympanostomy tubes placed as well as an adenoidectomy in the past, with limited success in mitigating her middle ear pathology. Learners are encouraged to read the case study to determine the cause of the patient's symptoms.
