STEP 438: Hematology Case Study: A Microcytic, Hypochromic Anemia (CE: 0.5)

Description:

This article presents a case study on a 22-year-old college student that was experiencing extreme fatigue. Since she had a history of anemia and intermittent blood-streaked stool, she decided to visit her primary care physician. The physician ordered a complete blood count (CBC) with differential. The article covers the results of the admission and asks learners to follow guided questions to better understand the patient's presentation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Reflect on a case study outlining microcytic anemia
  • Discuss the implications of the patient's blood count parameters
