Acne is a disease of the pilosebaceous unit, involving abnormalities in sebum production, follicular epithelial desquamation, bacterial proliferation, and inflammation. Because acne vulgaris affects 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 24, it is the most common skin disorder treated by dermatologists. This article discusses the most effective treatment against acne: accutane.
