STEP 279: Profiling for Life: Serum Lipids (CE: 1.0)

Description:

A heart attack or acute myocardial  infarction(AMI) occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart muscle or myocardium is severely limited or ceases. An AMI occurs when one or more of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle becomes blocked, usually because of accumulation of lipid deposits called plaque. This article discusses signs and symptoms of AMI, and outlines risk factors for coronary heart disease.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss signs and symptoms of AMI
  • Identify risk factors for coronary heart disease
  • Outline classification levels of lipoprotein profiles
