This article discusses the rise of obesity in American, the use of Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist circumference to assess for body fat, and risk factors associated with obesity. The author discusses childhood obesity rates over the last few decades and covers hormones that may contribute to obesity in adults.  Physiological, psychological and emotional reasons for obesity are covered, as well as methods for management of weight loss.
