Vitamin D is about more than Ricketts.  Low levels of Vitamin D are associated with multiple sclerosis, coronary heart disease, and some cancers.  Too much Vitamin D from the sun can cause skin cancer.  This presentation discusses the data supporting these ideas as well as other aspects of Vitamin D metabolism.

  • Outline the importance of Vitamin D in maintaining good health.
  • List diseases that are linked to Vitamin D deficiency.
  • Define common sources of Vitamin D.
  • Describe when, why, and how to test for Vitamin D in patients.
